We have used other suppliers, but none of them have the same range that Brymec have… The working relationships [with Brymec] are also exceptionally good!
HVAC Solutions for London Luton Airport Redevelopment
London Luton Airport’s redevelopment presented a significant infrastructure upgrade within one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs. Delivering across multiple areas of the airport required a consistent, responsive supply chain and the ability to align product availability with evolving installation phases.
For Brymec, it was an opportunity to support Principal Cooling with the supply, coordination, and technical backing required to deliver HVAC systems across a live airport environment, where access, logistics, and programme timing were tightly controlled.
Main Contractor: Principal Cooling
Project Scope: HVAC replacement across terminal areas including Departures, Immigration, Baggage, and Arrivals
Brymec Involvement: Supply of HVAC systems and components, technical support, product specification, and coordinated delivery strategy
Project Overview
Handling over 16 million passengers annually, London Luton Airport required a phased redevelopment that could be delivered without interrupting daily operations. The works included expanded passenger facilities, new retail areas, and additional boarding infrastructure.
Brymec supported the HVAC element of the project by supplying a broad range of mechanical and associated products across multiple zones of the airport. With installations taking place at different stages, product availability and delivery coordination were critical to maintaining programme continuity.
Alongside supply, Brymec worked with Principal Cooling during early project stages to provide technical input and assist with product selection and specification, including the introduction of press-fit solutions to support programme efficiency and sustainability objectives.

Key Challenges
- Live Airport Environment
All works were carried out within a fully operational, high-security airport. Deliveries were subject to strict security protocols, creating challenges around timing, access, and site logistics. - Phased Installation Across Multiple Zones
Products were required across several areas of the airport, often simultaneously but at different stages of completion, demanding a flexible and responsive supply model. - Frequent and Variable Deliveries
Principal Cooling required deliveries up to four times per week, with orders varying in size and content depending on installation progress. - Programme Sensitivity
Delays in material supply had the potential to directly impact installation schedules within a tightly controlled redevelopment programme.
Brymec’s Approach
Brymec worked closely with Principal Cooling to establish a streamlined delivery process. Orders were placed daily based on site requirements, processed immediately, and delivered to a designated site compound for onward movement to installation areas. This reduced time spent navigating security constraints and ensured materials were available when needed.
Brymec supported early-stage decision-making by providing technical documentation and recommending solutions aligned with project goals. This included the introduction of press-fit technology to improve installation efficiency and system performance. On-site training was provided to engineers for the installation of press systems, ensuring correct use and maintaining installation quality across the project.
Comprehensive Product Supply
A wide range of HVAC and support products were supplied to ensure continuity across all installation phases without the need to source from multiple suppliers. This included:
Channel (3,500m), copper tube and insulation (4,200m), cable tray (1,000m), studding (2,500m), fixings and bracketry, condensate pumps, and sundries and installation materials.
The Outcome
The collaborative approach between Brymec and Principal Cooling enabled a structured delivery process that ensured materials arrived on time and reduced disruption. The combination of product availability, technical support, and responsive logistics contributed to a smooth installation phase.
The completed HVAC systems now support the airport’s upgraded facilities, contributing to improved comfort, operational efficiency, and the long-term performance of the building infrastructure.
