Project Overview

The Mount Pleasant “Postmark” development represents a major mixed-use scheme in Central London, delivered on the site of the former Royal Mail sorting office in Farringdon. For Brymec, it was an opportunity to support the project through the supply of high-quality plumbing and drainage systems, helping to meet the standards required across a complex, multi-block residential development.

The private and shared ownership residential units have been designed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating and a code for Sustainable Homes Level

The Brief

The mechanical contractor, FG Mechanical, faced a defined programme with phased completions required to accommodate residents within the new units. With construction progressing rapidly across multiple blocks, they needed a supplier able to take responsibility for delivering products promptly, avoiding disruption to installation activities.

The Mount Pleasant project required careful consideration at every stage of development, ensuring all systems and materials met the necessary safety, compliance, and performance requirements within a complex build environment.

The Approach

In large development projects such as Mount Pleasant in Farringdon, Central London, the choice of construction materials is critical in ensuring structural integrity and sustainability. We used Steel Tube, Fittings, and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) products as they offered a combination of durability, flexibility, and environmental considerations.

In the context of Mount Pleasant, the application of Hot Finished Part 2 Heavy S&S Steel Tube, FxF Short Bends, Elbows, and Reducing Sockets showcases the adaptability to complex structures. Dual certification to BS EN10255/10217 and compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) ensure that these materials meet safety standards and contribute to the project’s overall sustainability goals.

HDPE

HDPE products, used for Mount Pleasant’s commercial waste and drainage needs, bring lightweight efficiency to large-scale developments. The advantages of High-Density Polyethylene include its resistance to corrosion and suitability for soil, waste, and rainwater drainage, which makes it a preferred choice.

Materials such as Plain End Pipe, Equal Single Y Branches, Expansion Socket Ring Seal Coupling, and Electro-Fusion Coupling demonstrate the versatility of HDPE in addressing diverse construction requirements.

Product Intergration

The integration of Steel Tube, Fittings, and HDPE products at Mount Pleasant reflects a considered approach to quality, sustainability, and efficiency. These materials meet the structural demands of a complex development built over existing underground tunnels, while also supporting the project’s wider environmental targets, including BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes requirements.

Their versatility allowed for consistent application across the scheme, from residential units to commercial and community spaces, contributing to a coordinated and reliable build.

Supply Chain and Delivery

Brymec’s direct relationships with manufacturers and distribution model provided control over stock availability and delivery timelines. Working closely with FG Mechanical, this enabled a structured ordering process with regular next-day deliveries at scheduled times.
